Beginning as a Suzuki teacher over 25 years ago, I appreciate and believe that any student can learn to play the violin as they can learn their "mother tongue". My teaching has evolved through the years and I have continued to be a student of music through private music lessons, workshops, personal study, earning my certification, adjudications and meeting with my fellow colleagues. There is great variety in how each student learns, so I strive to be flexible, patient, and creative. I also desire that my students will be able to decode music for themselves and give them the tools to do so. A learning environment must be warm and safe, therefore, I love my students and seek to communicate that in my teaching. My performance experience includes American Youth Performs at Carnegie Hall (high school), the Port Angeles Symphony, the San Ramon Valley Orchestra, and the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra. Receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Bible/Christian Education, I became a State and Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) and am a member of ASTA (American String Teachers Association), WSMTA (Washington State Music Teachers Association), and MTNA (Music Teachers National Association).
