karen Scholten

My name is Karen Scholten, and I have Karen's Korner Piano Studio located in my home which is in Everson. I offer Pre-School, Private, Partner, Group, and Adult instruction in piano. I also enjoy teaching composition. I love teaching kids of all ages, and my studio is fun and I love trying new things and keeping current with my teaching skills. I believe everyone should have a chance to learn and enjoy music and I love the challenges of teaching piano to a broad range of children. I attended Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington where I took music history and music education classes along with voice lessons and concert choir. After college, marriage, and three boys I returned to SPU and took classes from the "Center for Music & Young Children."  I received certification for advanced training and "How Children Grow Musically" and "Understanding and Enhancing the Young Child's Development." I have also gone through the school of "Pace" taught by Dr. Robert Pace himself in Seattle. I am a member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Washington State Music Association. I love learning at workshops, conferences, master classes, and in our own local chapter meetings. I enjoy playing worship music with my husband at my church, for a men's gospel quartet for 25 years, for weddings, choirs, fundraisers and various community events.
